One-thousand followers giveaway contest entrants

As promised, we're posting the submissions for the big giveaway contest here on the blog. Fans had from Thursday morning (02/23) until Sunday at midnight (02/26) to submit their personal favorite hockey moment/experience.

We are very happy with the number of submissions we received! They were an absolute joy to read! You will find them posted below. Each entry is labeled with the entrant's name and last initial, and they are also numbered.

In the sidebar to the right, you will find a poll with corresponding numbers and names for the entrants. You may vote ONCE for your favorite story. Feel free to tell your family, friends, teammates, and other hockey fans about this contest so that they may cast their vote as well! Whoever has the most votes by Pucks & Pixels's birthday on March 15th is the big winner!

Clarification on contest

Your favorite hockey moment can be ANYTHING hockey related. NHL, KHL, AHL, WHL, pee wee, beer league, etc, etc... HAVE FUN!

1,000+ followers reached!

We have finally hit the 1,000 follower mark on Twitter! In an effort to promote the great game of hockey and the love that so many people have for it, Pucks & Pixels will be holding a write-in contest. Starting Friday, February 24th, fans are encouraged to send in a short story describing their favorite hockey moment. You can submit your short story until the midnight on Sunday.
Requirements will be as follows:

  • No more than 250 words.
  • You can only submit ONE story.
  • Must be following Pucks & Pixels on Twitter (if you have Twitter).
  • Cannot be "When my team won the Stanley Cup." We want you to dig deep for this moment! What makes it so special to you personally?
  • Cannot slander another franchise, city, fanbase or person.
  • Must be appropriate, a.k.a. try to keep it PG-13.
  • Must be submitted to pucksandpixels@gmail.com within the time constraint (02/24-02/26).
  • Your first and last name, Twitter handle (if applicable) and email address must be enclosed with your story so that we can properly identify you in correlation with your story. Only your first name and last initial will be published with your story.

After we have received all of the stories and closed off the submission deadline, every story will be posted here on the blog along with the first name and last initial of whoever submitted the story. They will be numbered as well. Along the side of the blog will be a poll with the name of every fan who submitted in numerical order. You the fans will then vote on your favorite story. Everyone will be able to vote once. We know that we can't keep people from voting for themselves, but we highly encourage that you don't. Read through the stories, soak in the moments of others and find your favorite. Which story really moves you? Vote for it. Whichever fan has the most votes after two weeks will be our big winner. If a tie ensues, we'll figure something out then.

Remember, the prizes will be: (1) sweatshirt or hoodie with an existing design from the P&P apparel shop, (5) P&P posters of existing designs and a Patrick Sharp bobblehead.

1,000th Follower Contest

As most of you know, if Pucks & Pixels manages to make it to 1,000 Twitter followers by March 15th (and we're really hoping that we do), we will be holding a big giveaway contest where the winner will win (1) sweatshirt or hoodie with an existing design from the P&P apparel shop, (5) P&P posters of existing designs and a Patrick Sharp bobblehead. Pretty cool right?

But you may be wondering what the contest would be. Well, in an effort to promote the great game of hockey and the love that so many people have for it, Pucks & Pixels will be holding a write-in contest. For three days (probably a Friday, Saturday and Sunday), fans are encouraged to send in a short story describing their favorite hockey moment.

Ampersand Shirt Series

Every franchise is now represented by an ampersand shirt in the apparel shop. To reiterate, the ampersand shirt series has one shirt for each franchise, and each shirt represents either the last ten or most historically significant captains for that particular franchise. I especially enjoyed this project because one of my favorite subjects in high school was history, and I liked learning about the different captains for each team and going back through their history. This was particularly interesting when franchises had been relocated, as that still counts as part of the franchise.

I hope that everyone enjoys this shirt series as much as I do. Thank you to those fans and followers who helped me compile the information and gave their opinions on captains who should be included or excluded. I’d like to especially thank Ruchika, who not only helped me a great deal with the captains lists, but also suggested this great series idea. If for some reason anyone finds a spelling error or gross information mistake, please do not hesitate to tell me! When you get this close to a project, you tend to miss tiny mistakes.
